Myeloma

Myeloma is a cancer which originates in plasma cells, it is sometimes known as multiple myeloma or myelomatosis.

Plasma cells are created to replace old cells which are no longer working, this is done by the body in a structured process. However, myeloma causes this process to loose structure and create a vast amount of abnormal cells containing paraprotein (M protein) which occupy the bone marrow and obstruct the production of healthy cells.

There are different types of myeloma, your doctor/consultants will be able to discuss your condition with you following diagnosis and advise of treatment options.
