Neuroendocrine tumours

Neuroendocrine cells are nerve cells which are specialised in generating certain types of hormones, this form of cancer is rare with two main sub-groups; carcinoid tumours and gastroentropancreatic tumours. These tumours may be hormone secreting (functioning) or non-hormone secreting (non-functioning).

Your doctor/consultants will be able to discuss your condition with you following diagnosis and advise of treatment options.

Things to look out for

Symptoms include but are not limited to:

General symptoms may include:

  • Diarrhoea.
  • Skin flushes.
  • Shortness of breath and or wheezing.
You are likely to experience further symptoms but these are dependant on where in the body the tumour has occurred.
