Sometimes testing for primary cancer is inconclusive, this is known as cancer of unknown primary or CUP. CUP can not be cured but treatment can be provided to help manage symptoms for a time. Your doctor/consultant may be able to have a strong idea of where the cancer originated from and will advise (with your agreement) on a treatment plan on this basis.
Treatment programmes are commonly combined and can consist of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hormonal therapy, your doctor/consultant will be able to discuss this further with you.
Some patients choose to opt for a second opinion, at Harley Street at Queen's we fully support this and your consultant will be able to refer you. Alternatively you may have had a diagnosis at another hospital and would like to come and see us for a second opinion.
Harley Street at Queen's attracts a highly skilled and specialist group of leading consultants who choose to work here and take charge of our patients care. Read more
